A bombshell book about the life of Prince Philip, who died in 2021, aged 99, has raised an allegation that the royal had a cruel nickname for the Duchess of Sussex.
After hearing the alleged nickname for Prince Harry‘s wife, one person writes: “Lol! The drama!”
A second remarks: “For him, that’s tame.”
“One of the least offensive insults Prince Phillip has ever given,” comments a third.
A fourth says: “That’s pretty reserved coming from him, the guy had a mouth.”
Prince Harry and Markle are undoubtedly two of the most controversial members of the royals.
In 2020, the couple stepped down as senior members and in doing so, broke major tradition.
The couple now spend most of their time in California, alongside their two children, Archie and Lilibet Sussex.
But in royal biographer Ingrid Seward’s book, ‘My Mother and I,’ shocking claims have been made about Queen Elizabeth II and how she allegedly felt about the duke and duchess leaving the royal family.
In one extract, it’s claimed Queen Elizabeth commented on how Markle’s wedding dress was ‘too white’ for a divorcée.
For her wedding day, the duchess wore a classic dress that was floor-length, long-sleeved, with a bateau neckline.
Seward wrote (via MailOnline): “In the monarch’s view, it was not appropriate for a divorcée getting remarried in church to look quite so flamboyantly virginal.”
But by far the biggest revelation in the book is the alleged nickname Prince Philip had for his granddaughter-in-law.
The late Duke of Edinburgh allegedly referred to Meghan Markle as D.o.W., referring to the ‘Duchess of Windsor’ after the American divorcée, Wallis Simpson, who married Edward VIII.
Because Markle is American and a divorcée, Prince Philip thought it was ‘uncanny’ how much she reminded him of the Duchess of Windsor, Simpson.
Seward explained: “He was simply referring to the fact that both were pencil-slim, dark-haired, and glamorous American divorcées.”
Markle was married to film producer Trevor Engelson from 2011 until they split in 2014.
Alongside their similarities in terms of prior divorces, both duchesses left royal duties and took their partners with them.
Royal expert Hugo Vickers noted in 2022 that Prince Harry is more like Edward VIII than he might realize.
Vickers said Prince Harry and Edward each ‘radiated the same sadness after cutting their links with the royal family,’ as per the New York Post.
He added how Edward and Prince Harry ‘took the path of perceived happiness’ when they married.
“As for the Duke of Sussex, who knows what’s going to happen to him? I think he looks thoroughly miserable,” Vickers remarked.
The nickname is particularly brutal when looking at the context of Wallis Simpson.
After Edward VIII abdicated the throne and fled with her to France, Simpson became one of the most hated figures in the royal family.
The Queen Mother, in particular, reportedly had a major vendetta against Simpson, even depriving her of the title HRH.
Anna Sebba, a biographer of Simpson, revealed (per the Express): “The significance of not making Wallace HRH was that nobody would curtsey to Wallace if they came back to England.
“So actually, this was a real snub, a real humiliation at a number of levels.
“And Edward always fought against it. He argued, ‘I can’t possibly bring my wonderful wife back to England to be humiliated if people aren’t going to curtsey to her.’
