Prince Harry has written a new heartfelt letter to mark the release of the latest report for one of his charities. The Duke of Sussex remains the patron of several organisations, including WellChild, a UK-based charity that supports children with serious illnesses.
Harry still attends the annual awards ceremony in London each year, despite stepping down as a working royal back in 2020. In his letter, which was released with the charity’s 2024-2025 report, the Duke spoke of the “immense pressure” that health and social care services face as his charity aims to “provide a lifeline”.

Harry still attends the annual awards ceremony in London each year, despite stepping down as a working royal back in 2020. In his letter, which was released with the charity’s 2024-2025 report, the Duke spoke of the “immense pressure” that health and social care services face as his charity aims to “provide a lifeline”.
Harry said he feels humbled as he praised the “extraordinary spirit” of the WellChild community and spoke about meeting the winners at the recent awards ceremony in London.
He said: “[It is] a moment in my calendar that never fails to bring me so much enjoyment. I am especially proud of the continued growth of WellChild’s Family Tree peer-to-peer support network
“In a world that often feels isolating for those caring for children with complex medical needs, the Family Tree offers friendship, advice, and a reminder that no one has to face these challenges alone.”
He added that times are “still difficult”, there is still “enormous strain on families and the charities,” and thanked the staff and trustees of the charity.
The Duke said: “Your part in our story changes lives every day, and I am honoured to stand beside you in this mission.”
The charity announced that last year it trained 6,722 parents, carers and professionals, prevented 16,000 hospital readmissions and helped to get 573 children home from the hospital.
It comes as Harry participated in the Orea Power House Conference in Toronto, Canada, this week. He appeared at the conference and spoke about “service and leadership”.
