Why Prince Harry’s Titles Could Reportedly Be ‘The Next One To Go

PRINCE HARRY’S ROYAL TITLE COULD BE ‘THE NEXT ONE TO GO’ AS MAJOR BILL FOR TITLE REMOVAL RELAUNCHES…

Prince Harry could be the next in line to lose his title after the monarchy recently stripped his uncle of his own.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, had his titles revoked amid continued backlash over his alleged involvement with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Now, Prince Harry, who has been largely estranged from the monarchy since 2020, is being predicted to face the same fate following the relaunch of the “Removal of Titles Bill” in Parliament.

Prince William May Use The Proposed Law Against Prince Harry

The possibility of Prince Harry having his titles revoked is now higher than ever, following British politician Rachael Maskell’s introduction of a proposal for a “Removal of Titles Bill.”

The bill was introduced after the monarchy formally initiated a process to remove the “Style, Titles, and Honours” of Andrew in an effort to further distance the institution from his association with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

If passed, the bill would grant the monarch the authority to remove royal titles on his own initiative,  either upon the recommendation of a joint committee of Parliament or at the request of the titleholder.

But with Prince William next in line to succeed his father, sources have claimed they wouldn’t be surprised if he invoked the proposed law against his brother, from whom he has been estranged for years.

“If they pass these bills, I would not be surprised if Harry is the next one to go,” one insider . “I would not be surprised if William does that … he’s not a vindictive person, but he feels very let down, and it’s always much more difficult when you are let down by somebody close to you.”

The Bill Will Cover A ‘Whole Range Of Titles’

Adding weight to the possibility that Prince Harry could face the same measure were Maskell’s remarks in an interview with the PA News agency.

She explained that although the bill was prompted by Andrew’s scandal, it is being advanced with the intent to apply it in other future scenarios as deemed necessary by Parliament and the monarchy.

The bill would also not be limited to princes, but would cover a “whole range of titles,” regardless of rank.

“It’s not targeted at this event, obviously it’s triggered by this event, but it would sit on the statute to be used for any such future occasion,” she said, per Independent.

The politician added, “It does include a whole range of titles, so we’ve researched into this, it will include peerages it will include, obviously, baronets and earls and dukes and all of that and then it will be for princes and princesses as well. So all titles which are given, it will be able to remove.”

How Will The Proposed Bill Affect Prince Harry?

Although Prince Harry has yet to make any comments about the situation, a palace insider suggested that the Invictus Games founder “must be quite scared” of the proposed bill.

If such a law were used against Harry, it would mean he’d have to relinquish the title “His Royal Highness,” which he and his wife, Meghan Markle, have allegedly continued to use despite stepping down from their senior royal roles in 2020.

Harry would also no longer be addressed as the Duke of Sussex, a title first created in 1801 and bestowed upon him by the late Queen Elizabeth II upon his marriage to Meghan in 2018.

Other subsidiary titles like the Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel will also be stripped in such a scenario.

Prince Harry Has Made Moves To Reconcile With The Monarchy

In the meantime, Harry has been making efforts to reunite with the monarchy,  a move that, if successful, could help prevent any potential removal of his titles.

In September, he met with his father for the first time since February 2024, around the period when the King’s cancer diagnosis was announced.

The reunion was described as “super positive and very relaxed” and reportedly included several emotional moments.

Shortly after the meeting, Harry hinted in an interview that he intends to make more visits and possibly bring along his family.

Meghan Markle Has Been Supportive Of Prince Harry’s Decision To Make Amends With The Royal Family

Recently, a source told  that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, has also been supportive of Harry’s reconciliation moves.

“They need the [royal] family,” said the insider, adding, “Meghan is aware of that.”

“Meghan knows that Harry won’t be returning to royal duties, but on a human, personal level, [she wants for him to be] able to get on good terms with his father,” the source continued.
