Prince William and Princess Kate forced to turn down Prince Louis appearance invite

Prince Louis was offered a very important role

Having recently discovered Prince Louis’ love and obsession with conkers, the World Conker Championships wrote to the Prince and Princess of Wales, offering Louis his first official role as their honorary patron, but this was politely declined by Louis’ parents.

Prince William and Princess Kate turned down the offer as Louis is not yet a working member of the Royal Family, with a Kensington Palace spokesperson telling The Telegraph: “We really appreciate the invite but currently Prince Louis is ‘conker-trating’ on his studies.”

Kate shared Louis’ love for conkers during her engagement with the Scouts and First Lady Melania Trump in Windsor last month. The Princess, who is joint president of the Scouts, told the chief scout: “We keep finding conkers in cupboards, in his bed – conkers everywhere!”

The World Conker Championships has raised £420,000 for charities that support the visually impaired since 1965.

The competition takes place every year on the second Sunday of October in Northamptonshire as participants battle for the titles of Conker ‘King and Queen’.

Mags Blake and Matt Cross have officially been crowned as this year’s winners in a competition that took place on October 12.

The first record of the game is from the Isle of Wight in 1848.

Conkers are the glossy brown seeds of the horse chestnut tree. They grow in green spiky cases and fall to the ground in autumn and the shells often split on impact to reveal the shiny conker inside.

Meanwhile, back in 2023, Prince Louis carried out his first official engagement in 2023 as he and his family volunteered with the Scouts in Slough.

The youngest child of William and Kate has joined his parents at a number of high-profile events and engagements, including Trooping the Colour, the Queen’s Jubilee, and Christmas Day walkabouts.

Louis, along with his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, all attend Lambrook Preparatory School in Berkshire, with George set to move schools at the end of the academic year in 2026.

His parents’ former schools, Eton College and Marlborough College, have been tipped as contenders.
