Prince Harry gives 2-word verdict after he’s accused of ‘stealing William’s royal title’

Prince Harry

Prince Harry has broken his silence today after he received backlash for being called ‘Harry Wales’ at a polo event this week. During a holiday with pals in Colorado, the Duke of Sussex played in the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship in Aspen.

While this in itself was not controversial, the way he was introduced to the match was. That’s because Harry was introduced by the commentator as “Harry Wales”. This was videoed and put online, and sparked backlash from royal fans who began to accuse Harry of taking his brother Prince William’s title.

This is because Wales is not Harry’s title, with the name Wales instead being used by Prince William, who is The Prince of Wales, and his family.

Harry instead only used the name Wales when his father, King Charles, was previously The Prince of Wales before he took the throne.

The duke was also given his own title as The Duke of Sussex on his 2018 wedding day by the late Queen Elizabeth II – a title he still has despite quitting royal life in 2020.

While many people on social media, including X, believe Harry would have requested to be called “Harry Wales” at the polo event this week, a spokesperson for the prince has now confirmed this was not the case.

Harry has played polo for many years.

His spokesperson told the Express that Harry being introduced as “Harry Wales” was “a mistake,” as Harry had not asked to be called by this name.

The Royal Family have not commented on the matter.

It is believed Harry will now be back home after his holiday with friends.

The prince is expected to spend Christmas at his Montecito mansion with wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
