Prince Harry Admits Bringing Archie & Lilibet Back To The U.K. Is ‘Impossible’ Royals

“The Duke of Sussex recently opened up about his relationship with his home country and whether he would consider moving back to the United Kingdom with his family in the future. Prince Harry, 40, has been embroiled in legal battles with British tabloids over their treatment of his wife, Meghan Markle, 43. He has also criticized their disregard for the privacy and security of his wife and children. However, this battle took a disappointing turn when Prince Harry lost his appeal against a government not to provide him with automatic police security when he visits the U.K.”

Prince Harry opened up about feeling “let down” and “devastated” by the court ruling, which failed to ensure tax-payer-funded security for himself and his family during their visits to the U.K. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have lived in Montecito, California, since leaving the U.K. in 2020. However, in the wake of this legal setback in which Prince Harry said he was subjected to “unjustified and inferior treatment,” he revealed he would not be pursuing further legal action. His reason for this is that the ruling had “proven that there was no way to win this through the courts.”

He went on to criticize the royal family for their involvement in the ruling, possibly influencing the outcome. He said:

“I can only come to the U.K. safely if I am invited, and there is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands. Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him, not by intervening, but by stepping aside and allowing the experts to do what is necessary.”

After losing the legal appeal, Prince Harry shared his feelings with the BBC on May 2, 2025, revealing whether he would bring his wife, Meghan, and children back to England, especially without adequate security protection.

“I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point,” he said.

However, Prince Harry maintained that despite the negative things that have happened, he continues to love his country. He lamented that his children would likely be unable to enjoy all the joys of his home.

“The things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything,” Harry shared. “I love my country. I always have done. Despite what some people in that country have done.”

Prince Harry also opened up about feeling homesick and missing the U.K. and shared his sadness about how Archie and Lilibet will likely never know his homeland.

“I miss the U.K., I miss parts of the U.K., of course I do,” he said. “I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”

However, despite feeling disgruntled at his family, Prince Harry maintained that he still wished to reconcile with his family. The Duke of Sussex has been estranged from his father and the rest of his family for a while now, only visiting the U.K. briefly amid ongoing conflict with the royals. Now, he has expressed the need to mend fences, at least on his side.

“There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has, he won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile,” he said.
