To mark International Day of the Girl 2025, a global celebration founded by the United Nations in 2011, Meghan Markle posted on Instagram, giving the audience a heart-warming and rare look at her daughter, Princess Lilibet.
Meghan is also a mother to Prince Archie with husband Prince Harry. Prince Harry and Meghan were initially touted as a modern fairy tale, with a twist. The couple met in July 2016, thanks to a common friend, on a blind date. Sparks flew instantly, and by the end of that calendar year, Prince Harry had made the relationship public. On Nov. 27, 2017, it was announced that the couple got engaged, which was a historic occasion as Meghan became the first American woman to be officially committed to a member of the British royal family. They were married on May 19, 2018, in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in ceremonies viewed by millions around the world.
On Oct. 9, 2025, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke at the Project Healthy Minds’ annual gala in New York City, where they received the Humanitarian of the Year Award and shared a touching family update. Meghan, standing by Harry, said: “Our children, Archie and Lilibet, are just 6 and 4 years old. Can you believe it!” She continued her remarks with the disasters of being parents today. “Luckily, they’re still too young for social media, but we know that day is coming.”
Their remarks brought to mind their everlasting devotion to protecting children online, a cause deeply connected with the aims of Project Healthy Minds.

Looks like the Duchess of Sussex takes great pride in being a mom! On Oct. 11, 2025, Meghan commemorated International Day of the Girl by sharing a touching Instagram post featuring a photo and video of her daughter, Princess Lilibet.
In her caption, Meghan offered an empowering message:
“To all the girls – this world is yours. Do everything you can to protect your rights, use your voice, support each other.”
She continued with a heartfelt promise, adding:
“We will do the same for you. It’s your right and our responsibility. Go get ‘em girl! 🏃♀️ Happy International Day of the Girl.”
The photo showed Meghan tenderly holding Lilibet’s hand as the two stood outside. The Duchess, dressed in a light-toned outfit, gazed lovingly at her daughter, who wore an all-pink ensemble complete with a matching purse. The accompanying video captured a joyful moment of Lilibet running freely outdoors under the sunshine, which was a rare and intimate glimpse into their family life.
Meghan has honored International Day of the Girl in multiple ways over the years. In 2024, she marked the occasion by reflecting on her own challenges, describing herself as “one of the most bullied people in the world” during an event hosted by #HalfTheStory, a nonprofit advocating for healthier digital habits among youth. Larissa May, the organization’s founder, told Vanity Fair that during the event: “We had girls wave these little emoji signs and talk about how each one of these scenarios would have impacted them emotionally.”
Meghan Markle continues to inspire girls everywhere to stand strong, speak up, and believe in their power. What do you think about the way she’s raising her children? Let us know, and then pass her message on to all the royal watchers you know!
