One year ago, Kate Middleton completed her cancer treatment and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the public’s support throughout her recovery.
On September 9, 2024, the Princess of Wales shared an Instagram video titled “A Message from Catherine, Princess of Wales.” It provided an update on her health following a cancer diagnosis in March.
Kate expressed “relief” that her chemotherapy treatment had ended by the close of the Summer of 2024. The princess claimed the previous months were “incredibly tough for us as a family,” and said that she and Prince William had to “find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
“I remain focused on recovery,” said Kate Middleton of battling cancer.
The Princess of Wales claimed that her cancer journey brought her “face to face” with her “vulnerabilities.” She added, “This time has, above all, reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted.”
One year ago, Kate added that while she was cancer-free, her path to healing remained “long.” However, she added she would take “each day as it comes.”
In the months following, the princess made several notable public appearances, including attending the Remembrance Sunday ceremony in November 2024. She also joined other royal family members for the annual Christmas Day church service at Sandringham.
In January 2025, Kate returned to Royal Marsden Hospital, where she had previously received cancer treatment. Following her visit, she posted a statement on X sharing her “relief” to be in remission.
“I remain focused on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”
She concluded, “I am, however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to.”
During the first half of 2025, the Princess of Wales attended a series of high-profile events, including Wimbledon, the RHS Wellbeing Garden, and the National Federation of Women’s Institute. In September, she and other members of the royal family hosted a state dinner for U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
In July 2025, ABC News shared Kate’s latest health update during a visit to Colchester Hospital. The princess was quoted, “You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism, through treatment. Treatment’s done, and it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal again,’ but actually that phase afterwards is a really difficult time.”
She concluded, “It’s a roller coaster. It’s not one smooth plain, which you expect it to be, but the reality is it’s not.”
