‘Cunning’ Meghan Markle could return to the UK ‘for the right price,’ source claims

BRITAIN-ROYALS-ONE YOUNG WORLD-POLITICS

Meghan Markle has been tipped to return to the UK, with a source teasing “nothing beats royal status.”

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, moved to America with Prince Harry after stepping down from the royal family in 2020. She has made very few trips back to the UK, having last returned in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.

However, a source has now suggested Meghan might be willing to return to the UK if the right conditions are met.

It’s believed Meghan and Harry are trying to keep the door open for a royal reunion, with the Duke of Sussex particularly keen to mend his relationship with his father, King Charles.

A source told The Express Meghan would consider returning to the UK “for the right price.” They claimed the decision could be influenced by her children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – and said Meghan is “in it for her children’s future” as “nothing beats royal status.”

The source described Meghan as “cunning and driven” and said her ambition shouldn’t be underestimated.

However, they also suggested Kate Middleton could stand in the way of a full royal family reunion, as the source said the Princess of Wales would be cautious of any potential return for Harry and Meghan.

Sources told the publication Kate would only support the reunion if it aligned with King Charles’ wishes. “Holding the royal family together is key for them all,” the source insisted.

The relationship between Harry and his father is tense, but the pair have been working on mending it. The Duke of Sussex met with the monarch earlier this year, with the pair spending 50 minutes together.

Sources have claimed a UK return for Harry and Meghan would depend on the UK Home Office’s ongoing review of Harry’s request for taxpayer-funded security.

The 41-year-old said he feared for his family’s safety if they were to return to the UK without taxpayer-funded security after his request was declined in May.

Following the ruling, Buckingham Palace stated, “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”

While Harry previously lost his bid to restore his police protection, a new Home Office review will examine whether he should automatically be granted this privilege when visiting his homeland. The process of reassessing Harry’s threat level is reportedly underway, with a decision anticipated next month.
