Prince Harry issued a scathing response to reports that his recent reunion with his father, King Charles III, was “distinctly formal” and left him feeling more like an “official visitor” rather than family.
In a rare statement Saturday, the Duke of Sussex calls the “sabotaging” remarks “categorically false.”
“Recent reporting of The Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false,” Harry’s spokesperson tells Royal News.
“The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son. Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged.”
The representative also confirms that Harry presented a photo to his dad, as Page Six had previously exclusively reported. Sources told us recently that the royal went to the meeting armed with photos and videos of his and Meghan Markle’s children: Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.
Harry’s spokesperson adds of the gesture, “While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity, we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over, however, the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess.”
The duke’s impassioned remarks via his spokesperson come after Harry reunited with Charles, 76, for a brief meeting at Clarence House in London on Sept. 10, marking their first meeting in 19 months.
During their chat, the king reportedly presented his son with a present ahead of the latter’s Sept. 15 birthday when he turned 41.
After their tea, the duke went on to tell reporters that his father — who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 — was doing “great.”
Royal News was also told that Harry “loved” his travel back to his home country for several different reasons.
“He’s obviously loved being back in the UK, catching up with old friends, colleagues, and just generally being able to support the incredible work of the causes that mean so much to him,” the royal’s rep said.
The meeting reportedly came about after Harry sent “a handwritten letter” to his father, “expressing his desire to reconnect.”
The two exchanged “hugs and tears” at the emotional reunion and the “mood was genuine and positive,” an insider previously told Us Weekly.
“They shared a long hug when they first saw each other,” the insider further claimed. “Harry started crying and it was very emotional for both of them. They really missed each other.”
